Ella Daisy Müller is currently working on her PhD project on the Basel Mission’s scientific collecting in the 19th century. In 2023 she graduated with an M.A. in History and Digital Humanities from the University of Zurich with her Master Thesis «Preaching with Plants: Johann Friedrich Metz and Rudolf Friedrich Hohenacker in the Basel Mission’s Networks between Science and Enterprise». During her studies in Constance, Bologna, Zurich and Basel she was a research assistant at the Professorships for Modern and Contemporary History and History of Knowledge as well as the Professorship for Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Constance. She also worked at the Chair for the History of the Anthropocene and as a teaching assistant at the University of Zurich. Her research interests include the history of knowledge and science, history of colonialism, mission and empire, history of labour and globalization as well as methods of Global History.
